Abundant Therapist: How a therapy network will lift your business

We’ve all been there. A quiet week in the clinic can test even the most up-beat therapist.

It’s important to acknowledge that no matter how much we love our therapy roles, sometimes working for ourselves can be tough.

But remember you have worked hard to learn your skills, so giving up is not an option.

I know it can be hard. If you are a parent, you may rely on a support network of friends, family or paid childcare to make life possible. When your support network fails, your business can suffer.

I know therapists who get disheartened when their appointment book looks empty. They are right to be concerned because it may be indicative of some issues with their marketing but it is not the end of the world!

Working for ourselves can be wonderful. We set our own goals and targets, work the hours we wish and can run our clinics as we want.

The downside can be isolation and a nagging sense of self-doubt. My message to you is: you may work alone but you are not alone.

An important step you can take to offset feelings of isolation is to build a network with therapists. They don’t have to be in the same specialty but they need to have the same mindset.

They will build you up when you are down, they will offer advice and support when you need it and will refer to you if their patients need a different speciality treatment.

In return you will do the same for them. You will create a support network of positivity and energy.

You may not yet have a network. That is why I set up my private Facebook group for therapists like us. It is a safe space where therapists can ask questions, share experiences and generally chat about our working life.
