You may know that I am a business coach, visiting clinics in person to advise therapists like you on strategies for success.
What you probably don’t know is that I too have a coach – or several – to whom I turn for an expert but impartial view of my business.
I have found that talking through the strategic planning of your business can make a huge different to profits at the end of the year.
Sometimes it takes someone removed from the day-to-day business to see exactly what you are doing well and to suggest how you could make it even better.
I am a member of a ‘mastermind’ group that meets every couple of months. We talk about our businesses and work on our next steps.
There are no other therapists in my mastermind group. One member runs music events in the UK, another is an accountant, another heads up a busy catering business while the remaining member is an app developer.
Not much in common with me then? You might wonder how I can learn from these people whose businesses are so very different from mine. But I have learned that the basics of every business are the same.
It is all about looking after your customers, treating them well and giving them an excellent service and looking at the profits at the end of the year.
Our differing work experiences result in some great suggestions when we are sitting round the table and I come away with ideas that I would never have thought up on my own.
Not only do I learn from my colleagues, we have made deep friendships that will last a lifetime.
I never feel alone when I am working. There is always someone to contact, to reach out to for an answer to a simple question. That can make all the difference if you are having a challenging day.
