This time of year it is all about giving back to the community.
We may be six weeks from the big day, but Christmas events are being planned and staged by fundraisers at your local school, church or community group.
This is a good time to re-connect with your community and offer your services for free.
It is an easy and really enjoyable way to raise your profile and get more patients in the long run.
As well as the usual tombola, raffle and refreshments stalls, there are gift stalls and some of the bigger fairs or markets have space for therapists like you.
Believe me, I have talked to organisers of fairs who are desperate for something new, an attraction that will make their event stand out.
These events are suited to all kinds of complementary therapists. You will need to set up a small stall, provide some information leaflets and be prepared to answer questions and give sample treatments.
Perhaps you could give a neck massage or a mini manicure. Aromatherapists could devise an aroma game to guess the plants or herbs used in an essential oil. Use your imagination and have fun!
The few hours you spend will reap rewards. You will get your name known amongst a new group of people.
Meeting new people and sharing your expertise is great fun. And remember, you need to pick up only one or two new patients for your trip to count as time well spent.
So get out into your community in the run-up to Christmas. Visit fetes and fairs, find out who the organiser is and have a chat, leave your business card.
